O*NET Interest Profiler

Using the O*NET Interest Profiler

The O*NET Interest Profiler can help mentees identify their interests and match them with potential careers. It is based on the RIASEC model (Holland, 1985), which groups interests into six categories:

  • Realistic

  • Investigative

  • Artistic

  • Social

  • Enterprising

  • Conventional

How to Use the Profiler:

  • The assessment contains 60 questions.

  • It takes about 20 minutes to complete.

  • It is free to use.

  • Available in both online and paper formats.

After Completion:

Mentees receive a score report that highlights their interest areas. This report can be used to explore career options using the O*NET My Next Move tool.

Begin by having mentees complete the O*NET Interest Profiler Short Form. Mentors may assist with scoring as needed. Once the short form is complete, use the results to fill out the Career Starter worksheet. Finally, refer to the O*NET Career Listings to identify potential career paths that align with each mentee’s interests and profile.
